 Jethro Butler and "Sally Smith"
The family tree drawn by Nehemiah and Ann Conklin (their granddaughter) shows her name was "Polly Smith".
It is possible someone misread either Polly or Sally.
To further complicate the name question, an old, well researched, Cuyahoga County, Ohio History says one of the first marriages in the County was "Betsy Smith" to Jethro Butler. On the marriage record of Justus to Bridget Stevenson, he gives his mother's name as "Sarah Smith"
familysearch.org gives name "Sally", birth <?1792, Lenox, MA>, and 21 Apr 1813 as marriage date but that is approximately the date she died.

.................. I have copies of Smith family Bible records (from a descendant) that include Abner Smith and his wife Rebecca Gibbs. Included in this list of children is "Sally Smith (Butler) born Mch 27th 1793" (These copies were probably copied from one Bible into another, as they say that Abner's children were all born in Lenox, when they are all in the VR of Ashfield. He moved to Lenox later.) It is believed that the Bible they are from was owned by a grandson of Abner Smith, as most of the other entries deal with the family of Hiran Smith, a son of Abner. Local information here says that she died 21 Apr. 1813 three weeks after birth of first child, Justus. She and Jethro were married 24 Feb. 1812 in Cleveland (page 8 of Vol. 1), the first marriage of Dover settlers. The Abner Smith and his brother Jonathan Smith arrived in Dover in 1811, one of the early groups to come here (from Lenox, MA, originally from Ashfield--well, not originally, they were from Conn.). There were many Smith families in Dover township in the early days and I have figured out about 99% of them. .....
