I am related to the Kirkendall (Kuykendall) family. In fact, my whole family (Mom and Dad's sides) are from the Northern half of Ohio, in and including Putnam Co., OH. My Mom was born in Defiance, OH and was raised in Rice, OH (a little town just outside of Continental on Hwy. 15. My Dad was born in Michigan, but his family moved back to Ohio after his birth.
There are actually a couple of Daniel Kirkendall's in my family, but from different generations. The first is Daniel Kirkendall who was born Dec. 17, 1768 in NJ and died circa 1856. He married an Elizabeth ? who was born 1777 according to a MD Census. They had 9 children between them. They are as follows in order of birth:
1) John Kirkendall born circa 1800 m. Christine Richards
2) Benjamin Kirkendall born Nov. 1802, Columbiana Co., OH and died April 26, 1873 in Putnam Co., OH. He married a Sarah Slack on April 24, 1828. He had 11 children.
3) Sarah Kirkendall born Dec. 15, 1804, Columbiana Co., OH and died in 1862 in Columbiana Co., OH. She married a John George on April 8, 1828. They had 9 children between them, all born in Middleton Twnp., Columbiana Co., OH.
4) Elizabeth Kirkendall born Jan. 11, 1808 in Col. Co., OH and died on Sept. 21, 1891 in Putnam Co., OH. She married a James Rogers on Nov. 22, 1832. They had 5 kids between them.
5) Edward Kirkendall born Feb. 10, 1809 in Col. Co., OH and died on July 29, 1869 in Putnam Co., OH. He married a Melinda Fisher on June 8, 1843. These are my G-G-G-Grandparents. They had 9 children who were all born in Putnam Co., OH.
6) Anne Kirkendall born circa 1800 (PA Census) and died Dec. 26, 1870 in Columbiana Co., OH. She had two marriages. Her first was to Philip Clemens in Col. Co., OH. After his death she Married a Lorenzo Guy. She had 5 children (I believe all of them with Lorenzo).
7) Rebecca Kirkendall born May 4, 1814 and died Jan. 6, 1880. She married a Jacob Fender. They had 8 children.
8) Daniel Kirkendall born on June 1, 1815 or 1816 and died Feb. 25, 1892. He married an Elizabeth Crawford. They had 6 kids.
9) Van Kirkendall born March 4, 1818 and died July 12, 1885 in Putnam Co., OH. His birth date was calculated from his death Date and age. To our knowledge he never married
