Note: race- negro, a 9 yr old boy adopted by the Conklins. He arrived from the orphanage at same time as Harold (who was still a baby) The Children's Home in Chicago IL brought him to Barry Co., MI with all the other children and babies, expecting that the black family in the neighborhood would adopt him, but they had wanted a baby boy, not an older child. John is included in photos and 1900 census. I don't know where he went after he left home, but vaguely think I was told that he had gone to Battle Creek.
