  Amazonian Women
They call it Coonamble, but really it's only a slice of Surry Hills transported out west. At the court there last week an unsavoury tale of a fight and a general backyard brawl amongst women was unfolded. One of the witnesses, Bertha Bowman, whose sister complained of being assaulted by another woman, said she heard Eva Bowman sing out that she would '"kill the cow," meaning her sister. Then, when Georgina Ingram and Ellen Williams were sailing into each other, witness told them to "let Georgina up, and give her a fair go," Georgina was evidently "floored." "While my sister was fighting," said witness, "I told her not to "squib it" but she did "squib it" after she was hit with a brick. I also saw Len Hammond holding my sister down, and saw Eva Bowman kick her over the eye."
The P.M. dismissed the case - and no wonder.
