Note: ---------------------------- Gilgandra Weekly and Castlereagh (NSW : 1929 - 1942), Thursday 29 June 1933, page 6 CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION Immediately after the 10 o'clock Mass the annual Corpus Christi procession was held, in which over 300 of the faithful participated. The order of the procession was as follows:- Cross-bearer (Master Tom Farrell), Altar boys, junior school girls, junior school boys, Sisters of St. Brigid, Children of Mary, choir, flower strewers (Eileen Fagan, Kathleen Green, Eileen Leonard, Margaret McCarry, Kathleen Bacigalupo, Mario Fagan, Leone Vince, Nellie Casey, Neda Fagan, Rita Spillane, Kathleen Boyle, Valda Murray) Canopy (carried by Masters Will Mann, Frank Leonard, Gerald Johnston and Tom Fisk), the Monstrance, containing the Sacred Host, carried by Rev. Father O'Farrell, P.P., attended by Rev. Father Athanasius, C.P., Hibernians, and members of St. Vincent de paul Society (who formed a Guard of Honor), and the laiety. In glorious sunshine, and to the devotional singing by the choir of the "Hymn to the Sacred Heart," the procession slowly and reverently, moved from the Church precincts, around the well-appointed Convent grounds, to terminate, finally, in front of the Convent, where, on the verandah, the Sisters had prepared a beautiful, altar for the reception of the Blessed Sacrament. Here in the open air, with the Papal flag, the Aus. flag, and the Irish flag suspended above, the faithful knelt in silent adoration to the King of Kings. The choir, ably assisted by Mr. Bede Mooy, and with Miss Roper as organist, sang sweetly the "0 Salutaris," "Tantum Ergo," and the "Adore mus." The processionists then reformed, and again the same reverent spirit premeated the surroundings to make Sunday morning, 18th June, 1933, an unforgettable one for the Catholic community of Coonamble. Inside the Church Benediction was repeated, during which, and for the remainder of the day, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for the veneration of the people. At the evening devotions there was another large congregation, when the prayers and instructions associated with the Holy Hour were given by Rev. Father Henry, after which the Rosary, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament concluded the religious exercises for the day. ------------------------ Australian Worker (Sydney, NSW : 1913 - 1950), Wednesday 23 June 1937, page 19 Coonamble A.W.U.
