  PORT MACQUARIE NEWS
Peter Sterling makes a dash to Port Macquarie fan's bedside
  By Tracey Fairhurst
 May 11, 2015, 11:30 a.m.
PORT Macquarie's Margaret Muras had a wish realised on the weekend with a special visit by her long-time footy hero, former Parramatta Eels legend, Peter Sterling.
Mrs Muras is terminally ill and being cared for at the Port Macquarie Private Hospital.
Her niece and Roosters fan, Penny Page, who recalls many a friendly verbal stoush with her Aunty Marg about the 'good old footy days', hoped for a signed photograph or letter from Sterlo to lift her spirits.
When Sterlo phoned to advise he would drive to Port Macquarie to meet his number one fan after filming Sunday's footy show, the family could not have been happier.
"Aunty Marg told us the story of how she meet Peter Sterling when he was a fresh faced 18-year-old who was signed with the Eels," Penny told the Port News.
"She told everyone how she loved him and had an old photo of him and her and always kept it on her wall.
"To make her happy and try and make a dream come true for her I thought I would try and arrange for another signed photo or a letter from him.
Sterlo met the family at the hospital and spent more than two hours sharing yarns and laughs with Mrs Muras.
"She had the biggest shock. We are so grateful that he would do this for Aunty Marg.
"We are thrilled that a football legend would travel from Sydney to Port Macquarie to visit a dying fan.
"He stayed for two hours and held her hand the whole time and then took photos with my kids and signed a photo for us."
