PROSECUTIONS AT FREMANTLE. In the Fremantle Police Court yesterday morning, before Mr. J. Lilly, acting R.M., Gerald Fitzgerald, agent, was charged with a breach of the railway by-laws in offering for sale to one John Ryan portion of a return railway ticket. Mr. Clydesdale, solicitor to the Railway Department, appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. Beresford for the defendant, who pleaded guilty. Mr. Clydesdale detailed the circumstances. He said that from the admissions made by Fitzgerald to Ryan and Detective Brown, it was clear that defendant was in the habit of trafficking in railway tickets. Something more than a nominal fine should be inflicted. Mr. Beresford pointed out that Fitzgerald had lost the amount he paid for the ticket (27s. 6d.), and had also to pay solicitors' fees. A fine of 40s., with 1p. 8s. costs, was imposed. Victor Wilson, hairdresser, was also charged with a similar breach of the railway by-laws. He pleaded guilty. Mr. Beresford appeared for the defence.
