  OBITUARY
  MBS. PHILLIPINA GIRLE.
  Mrs. Phillipina Girle, wife of Mr. M. H. Girle, senr., and one of Inverell's most highly esteemed residents, passed away at her residence, High- street, at 8.30 yesterday morning. The deceased lady sustained a stroke last Tuesday, but prior to that had enjoyed remarkable health, despite her eighty-one years, 46 of which were spent in Inverell. Although of a retiring nature, the late Mrs. Girle was possessed of a particularly lovable disposition and won the respect and admiration of all who made her acquaintance. Her demise will be mourned by a large number of friends throughout the district. Born in Rommeshausen, Germany, Miss Phillipina Raifstanger, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. Raifstanger, came to Australia with her parents when six years old. The family took up farming and fruit growing pursuits on the Patterson River. After her marriage to Mr. M. H. Girle, at Armidale in 1886, deceased came to Inverell to reside and remained here for the rest of her life. Seven children of the marriage- three sons and four daughters, survive. These are: Messrs. Matthew, Thomas, and William Girle, Mesdames H. Kelleher (Inverell) Charles Wilson (Tamworth), EIsenhood (Sydney and formerly of Inverell), and Miss Elsie Girle (Inverell). All sections of the community joined in the lengthy cortege yesterday afternoon to pay their last respects to a grand old lady. The remains were interred in the Presbyterian portion of the cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev. Emlyn James, B.A., B.D. Rev. E. James will make special reference to the life of Mrs. Girle during the service on Sunday morning.
