  Henrietta being the eldest child in the family had the responsibility of helping with the running of the household. She was known to have travelled each day as a young girl through the bush near where her parents lived to deliver her father's lunch pail to him at his workplace when they lived in Rockhampton, Queensland. She was only about 15 when her mother died at a young age at Merrylands West, an outer suburb of Sydney, and had to help raise her younger siblings. After having two young children of her own, and her father moving to Manly where he remarried, she met and married Albert Price who took on the responsibility of helping her raise her two young children as his own and also her younger siblings. Henrietta's marriage and death certificates indicate that there was supposedly a first marriage to a gentleman named Stubbs but there are no records found that this person actually exists. Family sources support this fact as well and it is believed that Henrietta may possibly have been abused as a young woman. Evidence regarding this is also supported by the fact that Henrietta's first two children Hugh and Hilda's birth certificates indicate that they were illegitimate.
