  Painful Accident
  Richard Stapleton, a wood carter, met with a painful accident on Saturday last. It appears that Stapleton, who was sitting on the front of his dray with his legs hanging down, hit the horse with the whip, whereupon the animal started kicking, and kicked him on the leg just below the knee, completely severing the sinews in his leg. The unfortunate man was placed in a wood dray and conveyed, into town, a distance of about 2 miles, where he received medical attendance.

  Mr. Richard Stapleton, aged 88 years, died on Friday last, 21st inst. at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Stan Vicary. Mr. Stapleton was a very old resident of the district, having lived here since he was 18 years of age. He leaves five daughters and one son, to whom sympathy is expressed.
