  BOROUGH OF ALEXANDRIA. - PETITION FOR DIVISION INTO WARDS.
  His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, directs the publication, in accordance with the " Municipalities Act ot 1867. " of the substance and prayer of a petition addressed to his Excellency by 137 electors of the borough of Alexandria, representing that the population of that municipality is now over 2000, and praying for the division of the burough into three Wards.
  ALEXANDER STUART.
  The petitioners state that the population of the borough exceeds 2000, and that they apply for the division of the municipality into three Wards, with the following names and boundaries, viz.:-
  EAST WARD.
  All that piece or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the parish of Alexandria, in the County of Cumberland, Colony of New South Wales, be the hereinafter mentioned several dimen-sions, a little more or less, being the portion of the Borough of Alexandria to be called East Ward: Commencing at a point on the west side of the Main Botany Parish Road, at its junction with the south boundary of the Borough of Redfern; and bounded on the north by that borough westerly to the centre of Gerard-street ; on the west by said centre and in continuation southerly to the stream from the Mill Pond ; on the south by that stream upwards to the Botany Parish Road aforesaid ; also on the east by that road northerly, to the point of commencement.
  WEST WARD.
  All that piece or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the parish of Alexandria, in the county of Cumberland, colony of New South Wales, be the hereinafter mentioned several dimen-sions, a little more or less, being the portion of the Borough of Alexandria to be called West Ward : Commencing at a point on the south boundary of the Borough of Redfern at the centre of Gerard-street ; and bounded on the east by the centre of Gerard-street and a continued straight line forming the western boundary of East Ward southerly to the stream from the Mill Pond ; on the south by South Ward bearing westerly in a straight line to Swanston-street ; on the west by the Borough of Macdonaldtown bear-northerly ; and on the north by the Borough of Redfern aforesaid bearing easterly to the point of commencement.
  SOUTH WARD.
  All that piece or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the parish of Alexandria, in the county of Cumberland, colony of New South Wales, be the hereinafter mentioned several dimensions, a little more or less, being that portion of the Borough of Alexandria to be called South Ward : Commencing at a point on the west side of the Botany Parish Road, at the stream running from the Mill Pond ; bounded on the north by that stream, being also the boundary of East Ward, westerly to a point in line with the centre of Gerard-street ; on the north-east by West Ward bearing west-erly in a straight line to Swanson-street ; on the west by the Borough of Macdonaldtown southerly ; thence by Burt's Grant to the Cook's River-road ; on the west by that road and the Borough of St. Peters southerly to the Borough of Botany ; on the south by said Botany along the Gardeners'-road easterly to the Botany Parish Road aforesaid ; and on the east by that road northerly to the point of commcncement.
  "Your petitioners pray that your Excellency will divide the above Borough into Wards, as required in above petition."
