"In the late 1920's Howard and his brother, Charles, founded The Alexander Rubber Company. The company was a wholeseller of rubber boots and rubber shoes. Later, Converse athletic footwear were added to the stock. The office and showroom were located at 13-15 North Fourth Street, an area that was, or became, the "shoe" district of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One of Howard's sons, James, became the bookkeeper. Another son, Donald, was a salesman for the company. Howard was elected President of the Philadelphia Shoe Club in 1936 Charles passed away in 1956 making Howard sole president of the company. The business was liquidated in the early 1960's." Clinton 3rd of Medford Lakes and Howard L. of Bala-Cynwyd. Eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Stuard Funeral Home in Ardmore. Internment will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery.
