 According to Colin Blaxter: In 1848 caught stealing a Looking Glass having previously been convicted for stealing books from Blakenham Church in exchange for bread. Tried Norwich Quarter Sessions 12 Jul 1848 and sentenced to be transported to Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania) for 7 years. He could neither read nor write. Transported on board "Nile" 27 Jun 1850. The ship departed 5 Jul 1850 from Portland, stopping at London, where it departed 16 Jul 1850. The voyage took 90 days, stopping at Gibraltar en route. Arrived Hobart 3 Oct 1850 where he commenced his term of incarceration under the Probation System (age 21). 21 Apr 1851 found guilty of "misconduct in being in a Public House during Divine Service on Sunday" and sentenced to 7 days solitary. 19 Jul 1852 found guilty of "misconduct in being in company with a transported and absconded offender" and sentenced to 3 months hard labour. From 1852 appears to have worked at the sheep station "Dunrobin" at Ouse in the central Highlands. 9 Nov 1853, whilst in the district of Franklin, found guilty of misconduct and sentenced to 1 month's hard labour and not to return to the District. Left Hobart at some point after 21 Oct 1854 (the last date entered on his Conduct Record). Made his way eventually to Eden on the south coast of New South Wales. Died following wasting illness of many months duration. As of 2009 all the Blaxters living in Australia were reputedly descended from him. A protestant.
 A deceased farmer at time of daughter Eliza's 2nd marriage in 1946.
  1841 Census lived Black Horse Yard, Lower Westwick Street, St. Lawrence, Norwich, Norfolk - Age 12 (mistranscribed as Blascter).
