Announced in East Suffolk Gazette 6 Apr 1915 "Death of Albert W. Darby J.P., partner in the firm of Darby Bros, timber merchants, aged 64. His chief recreation was yachting. He assisted in the revival of the Regatta, which fell into abeyance on the death of his father Samuel Darby [who died 31 years before]. He was secretary for 20 years. Sailed "Sunbeam" and won the Challenge Cup last season. He was a Liberal. Leaves a widow, one daughter & six sons, two of whom are in Canada, one in West Africa, two in London and the youngest is a Lieutenant in the 3rd East Anglian Howitzers. [in 1904 and 1913 he lived at North House, Ravensmere. His sons: A.R.M. Darby, Frank, Lieut. Colin]".
