a. Note:   e party. Everyone adored her, and she always got more Christmas presents than anyone else.
  She was the unmarried aunt who was always available to help whenever there was illness in the family or someone needed a babysitter. I have been told that there were suitors, but after so many years helping to raise her siblings and take care of her parents, she just wasn't interested. However, she genuinely loved kids. She was Jo and Louise's favorite because she let them soap her windows for Halloween (then they had to clean it off. Good way to get the windows washed.) Roxanne remembers that she would go sit at the kid's table at family parties. I remember that she always came on the bus, so as not to be too much trouble, but in her later years she would get off at the Drugstore and let someone come get her in a car for the last five blocks. She would walk in the door and the party would get rolling.
Note:   We all knew her as "Tante Agatha", pronounced the German way: "Tantagata", with the accent on the first and third syllables. Tante Agatha was a typical Ernst woman -- even when she was old and frail, she had a spirit that made her the life of th
