a. Note:   He served in the Union Army in Company C, 13th Reg. of Kentucky, USACalvary, July 10, 1863 to January 19, 1865. He was 5'7" tall, fair complected, with light hair and blue eyes. SAMUEL suffered from typhoid fever and yellow jaundice while in the service. The fever caused all of his hair to fall out. It also caused his finger nails and toe nails to come off. He later received a pension for chronic consumption as a result of his fever.
