  Born with last name Keeler and listed in 1891 and 1901 census as Keeler but adopted the last name Cubitt Keeler when he married Emily Betts in 1906. The name Cubitt comes from the last name of his Mother's partner shown on 1891 census as a lodger. William retained this last name until at least 1911 census but later in life reverted to just Keeler. There has been some doubt as to whether his Father was William Cubitt but the following leads to the conclusion that he was:
 Several of William Cubitt-Keeler’s brothers and sisters were baptised with the last name Cubiitt-Keeler
 Their Father is shown on various census records as William Cubitt and their Mother as Harriet Keeler.
 William Cubitt was living at the same address as Harriet when William Cubitt-Keeler was born.
 In 1906 William Cubitt-Keeler’s marriage certificate confirms his last name as Cubitt-Keeler
 In 1911 the census confirms William’s name as “William C Keeler”
 William Cubitt-Keeler’s first child Elsie was baptised with the last name Cubitt-Keeler
 William Cubitt-Keeler’s Great granddaughter has a DNA match where the common ancestor is William Cubitt (William Cubitt-Keeler’s Father)
