Note: SCHOOLING "We all went to Whetley Lane School and then on to high school .. Elsie and Sam to Belle Vue and Dorothy to Grange." Source: Letter from Dorothy (Mowbray) Wilson to Janet (Mowbray) Saylor, July 1, 2000. EMPLOYMENT - England "Sam sold tops and nails? in the wool exchange, but I cannot remember the firm's name. Then when the war came he applied for the Navy but was rejected because of his arm (slightly deformed). So he went into the Fire Service and worked his way up to be an Officer and was stationed at Daisy Hill and also went to Kirklands Hall just outside of Cleckheaton." Source: Letter from Dorothy (Mowbray) Wilson to Janet (Mowbray) Saylor, July 1, 2000. ADDRESS Samuel and Florence were living at 25 Hedge Way, Allerton Road on Nov. 6, 1939 as stated in a will prepared on that date. Possession of Janet Mary Saylor In Canada: 106 Shuter St, Trenton and then 639 Cameron St, Collingwood. Story "When we were in Canada on Sam's wall beside the caps and gowns photo's was a picture of Kirklees Hall where Sam did his fireman's training. The hall itself was built out of the stones from Kirlees Priory after Henry Vlll had knocked it down. It is supposed to be where Robin Hood died." SOURCE: Letter from Aunt Dorothy to Randy and Janet Saylor, Nov. 20/2002 ASHES Both Florence and Sam were cremated and their ashes were mixed together by son Robert. He deposited them in 3 places. One - was at the cliff site across the lake from Rob's cottage. Second - was in Idle (Bradford) at the plot of Flo's mother and sister Connie and brother in law Dick. The grave site is in the church yard in the lower level. Lastly, on Aug 27/2010, Rob, Jan, Lynn and Randy deposited the final ashes on Sleepy Hollow road in Collingwood. This road is above the Peaks hills and it leads down to a great public overlook with a magnificent view of the Bay and town. Flo and Sam would go up there with a flask of coffee and sit on the boulders. We put the ashes down about 50 feet on the left at the base of a tree. Good fertilizer. A nice moment. Recorded by Randy, 29 Aug 2010.
