Note:   N8969 Wed., 27 Aug. 1884,  Elkader Register, Garnavillo, p8, c1:  On Wednesday last, Gerhard Kregal [Kregel], of this township, celebrated his 94th birthday at the home of his son Dietrich, where he now resides.  A number of relatives and friends were present and a most enjoyable time had.  Mr. Kregal came to this country from Germany more than 50 years ago, and settled in Garnavillo township about 40 years ago.  He has a host of friends who will wish him many more birthdays.
  His church marriage record gives his name as “Gerd Kregel” and gives his father’s name.
