Publication:   This information came from Yvonne Linn who obtained it from her aunt. The original named source is Louise Jaeger of Burlington, Iowa, a descendent of Thomas Jefferson Lightfoot. She seems to have done extensive research on the Lightfoot family and has more information on the "original" Daniel Lightfoot's wife's family, the Algar/Kennedys. She mentioned in her letter to Yvonne's aunt that she had received much of her information from a cousin, Donna Trapnell in San Diego, California.

Notes
a. Note:   NI120 Found within the LIGHTFOOT Surname folder at the Genealogy Department of the Wayne County public library: The following was written by Charles Carr of Chicago, now deceased:
The original Lightfoot home stood on the southeast corner of US Route 30 and Apple Creek Road (Wayne County Road 44). The old barn and summer kitchen still stands; they were built sometime before the Civil War by Grandpa (Samuel) Lightfoot. He was a wagon maker and came from Pennsylvania via the Erie Canal. A man of honor and integrity, he had an underground station for Negroes during slave days. Samuel owned the farm from 1849 to 1883.

Also found within the LIGHTFOOT Surname folder at the Genealogy Department of the Wayne County public library: The following obtained from Mr. Charles Herman and Mrs. Francis (Martha) Beckett:
The original house burned down and was replaced by the one that is now on the property at present (May 1969). It is owned and being lived in by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herman. They have lived there 51 years; he is 87 and she, 84 years old. Her maiden name was Nora Herman. They did not buy the property from the Lightfoot's, but say that the neighbors still talked of them when they moved there. Mrs. Herman was a school mate of Mrs. James Ernest McClarren, whose maiden name was Malinda Musser. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Beckett (Martha McClarren) lived on a part of the farm; their home is east of the original home on US Route 30.
Mrs. Miller and myself visited the Beckett's. They then made us acquainted with the Hermans. Mr. Herman took us through the house, summer kitchen, and barn. We were glad to make their acquaintance and hope to visit them again. (April 1969).

The following appears on a typewritten paper also found in the LIGHTFOOT Surname folder at the Genealogy Department of the Wooster, Ohio Public Library. This appears to be some random bits of information and is a compilation from several sources, none of which were named.

Samuel Lightfoot was born in York County, Pennsylvania, 28 Jun 1817. In the fall of 1834, the elder Lightfoot family, less the mother, who died several years prior, removed to Wayne County, Ohio, locating in the neighborhood of what was then known as Stibbs Factory or Stibbs Mills, near Wooster, where Samuel served his apprenticeship as a carriage and wagon maker. After which time he traveled extensively through the south and west during slavery days, taking a position at his trade for a period of three to six months at a time, while at the same time observing the condition of the slave master and sentiment on slavery which, even at that time, caused extreme sectional feeling. Continuing in travels as far south as New Orleans, not in Pullman Palace cars, but flat boats, Stage Coach and on foot, covering a period of about two years.
Samuel was united in marriage to Miss Mary Mitchell at Dalton, Wayne County, Ohio, on 25 Nov 1841, residing there for a short time they thence removed to State Road, East Union, purchasing a farm there in addition to a shop, living there for a period of 34 years, after which, wishing to retire from active business, he removed to his late residence, South Main Street, Orrville, in the spring of 1883. Their period of married life passing 58 years. This union was blessed with ten children.
Samuel passed away on 24 Jan 1900, aged 82 years, 6 months, 27 days. He was survived by his wife Mary, two sons and five daughters, two sons and one daughter having preceded him in death, seventeen grand children and twelve great-grandchildren.
Samuel died very suddenly on Wednesday morning. Although in feeble health for some time, his death was caused from a rare disease, resulting from an accident. He got up sometime during the night and fell over an obstruction, rupturing an air cell of the lung. The medical term of the injury is Emphysema, the air escaping from the ruptured cells penetrated the tissue of the body, causing his death few hours later. When the accident occurred, the family aroused Joseph Knapp, their neighbor, who summoned Dr. Greenamyer, but the venerable old gentleman was beyond relief. His age was 82 years, 6 months, and 27 days. The funeral took place on Friday forenoon, Rev. C. A. Boory, preaching an appropriate funeral sermon. Samuel is buried in the "Old Cemetery" at Orrville, Wayne County, Ohio.

Pertaining to a photograph entitled "Sam Lightfoot's Children" from the Ruhama Esther Burnett estate, Photo courtesy of Phyllis Storey-Harrison:
The photo was part of many letters and photos left in the Mulvane, Kansas area in the estates of Daniel Lightfoot and his children to include the estate of Ruhama Esther Burnett. The photo is unmarked other than the statement "Sam Lightfoot's children". I strongly suspect that this name Samuel marked on the photo would have been Daniel's brother who remained in Wayne County, Ohio when Daniel and Susannah left in about 1856 eventually bound for Iowa and then Kansas.
Because Samuel's third-born son, Smith, died in 1856, this photo must be of Samuel's remaining sons, "Samuel Jr, Francis, & Warren (youngest boy to oldest), and probably his two youngest daughters, Viola & Ella (youngest girl to the oldest). It's not known where the next oldest daughter, Harriet, would have been as she was born in 1851 and did not marry until 1874.
If this photo were taken after her marriage date in 1874, that would mean the boys should be much older. That should therefore date the photo to about 1865-1870 in Wayne County, Ohio.
