a.	Note: NI12187 On the 1900 US Census, Mary had indicated that she had given birth to 7 children. The census form incorrectly indicates that all 7 were still alive. In truth, all 7 had died before 1900 so none of Mary's children were still alive. The fact that she had lost all of her children may help explain why her brother, John McLaughlin, who had lost his wife, Jane Davis, in 1890 and had 3 small children to care for decided to send his 2 young daughters to be raised by Mary and her husband, Robert S. Amlong. -----------------------------------------
