Notes
a. Note: NI20845 Charles was born in 1852, likely in Kane County, Illinois (west of Chicago). After arriving in America from Ireland, the Drugan family first lived in Illinois before moving to Trempealeau, Wisconsin. And as such, he was the first Drugan to be born in America.
 --------------------------------------
The Drugan's left County Tyrone, Ireland and arrived at the port of New York, NY in May 1848 (per Patrick Drugan, Sr. naturalization documents) Whether they emigrated as a family or individually is not known. Patrick Drugan, Jr. naturalization papers indicate he arrived in New York from Ireland in 1849.
Upon arrival, they may have lived for a short time with the James Drugan family in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. They settled in Kane County, Illinois near the town of Elgin, remaining there until around 1854 when they moved to Caledonia Township, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. Their original homestead was near the Old Catholic Cemetery.

 WINONA BARBERS DON FLU MASKS
Barbers at the Schlitz hotel shop were wearing influenza masks in order to avoid coming in contact with influenza germs while shaving customers.
Charles Drugan, proprietor of the shop believes it to be a timely move and declares that wearing the masks keeps the barbers from contracting the disease and at the same time protects the patron. It is believed that other local barber shops will adopt the same plan.
