Internship, Medical College of Virginia, Hospital, Richmond, Virginia: 1942-1943
Fellowship, Mayo Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota: 1943-1948 (Internal Medicine)
Private Practice in Moline, Illinois: until 1950
 ----------------------------------------
While at the University of Wisconsin, Grace authored a paper entitled "Ectopic Pregnancy", 62 pages.
 ---------------------------------------
Judging by the information given on her application to the Mayo Foundation in May of 1942, Grace must have been a very petit person. At age 26, she weighed 105 pounds and was only 5'-2" tall.
 ----------------------------------------
According to Nancy Brinkmann McGinnis, Grace may have been briefly married to "Al Setter (?)" in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Setter was believed to be a major engineer with an unnamed oil company and was relocated to the middle east sometime around 1948-1950. Her death in 1950 may have been related to marital problems and it is possible that she may have traveled to California to reconcile the troubled marriage.

The following newspaper article was taken from a copy inserted into Grace's personnel file in the archives of Mayo Clinic. The banner at the top reads "The Daily Times, Tuesday..." with the remaining words cut off. Assuming the date to be Tuesday, the day after Grace's death, the date of publication would be June 13, 1950. It is not clear from the article if the Daily Times is a Kansas publication or an Iowa publication but I believe it is from Marion, Kansas based on the usage of the names of cities and officials within the article.
No inquest is scheduled in the death of Dr. Grace Kathryn Lightfoot, 34, formerly of Davenport and Moline, authorities said today. The death certificate indicates Dr. Lightfoot died in a Marion hospital Monday morning of "acute barbiturate poisoning," attendants at the Thompson funeral home reported. Sheriff James Kline said he is satisfied the drug was self-administered. An investigation was conducted by the sheriff and Coroner G. M. Tate. The sheriff said he was called to a west-end tourist court in Marion at 9 PM Sunday and found Dr. Lightfoot unconscious. He ordered her to a hospital where she died Monday morning without gaining consciousness. Patrolman Paul Smith of McPherson, Kansas, said that when he went to Dr. Lightfoot's aid about 10 AM Sunday on a downtown street when she appeared to be unwell, she went across the street to a drug store and took some capsules before he assisted her to the police station. The officer said she had a number of "capsules" in her pockets. She told the police the capsules killed pain but were not deadly. Smith said she reported she had been in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was on her way home. The McPherson officer said Dr. Lightfoot was taken to a physician who gave her treatment. The police then arranged for her to take the 10:50 PM train back home. They got her a room at a hotel, Smith said, and told her they would call for her in time to get her to the train. At 8:15 PM, she went for a walk. Sheriff Kline reported a motoring couple picked her up on the highway two miles west of McPherson and took her into Marion. Finding she was in a daze, they contacted him, Kline said. The sheriff sent her to the hospital. Officer Smith said Dr. Lightfoot told him she had been in a minor auto accident in Marion Saturday night. Dr. Lightfoot had left a Moline clinic in May. She was believed...
