Note: OBITUARY -- Mr. John Hornbuckle Narrandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser (NSW : 1893 - 1953), Monday 19 November 1951, page 2 OBITUARY ----0---- Mr. John Hornbuckle The death occurred at the Narrandera District Hospital on Saturday last of a well-known and highly respected resident of Narrandera, Mr. John Hornbuckle, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Hornbuckle was a native of Birmingham, England, and as a young man, went to New Zealand, where he resided for a time before coming to Australia 68 years ago. He came to Narrandera many years ago and for a number of years was em-ployed on the outdoor staff of the Narrandera Municipal Council, where he was regarded as a conscientious worker, and was held in esteem, by both the Council and the staff. He retired from the Council's' employ nearly three years ago, and had re-sided in Narrandera. Deceased is survived, by his wife and a family of two sons and two daughters. The sons are John and Henry Hornbuckle, both of Narrandera ; and the daughters are Dorothy, (Mrs. J. Kirk, Narrandera), and Nellie (Mrs. A. J. Babbs, Narrandera). The funeral took place to-day (Monday), the cortege leaving St. Thomas Church for the Church of England portion of the Narrandera cemetery. The Rev. A. J. Withers officiated at the service at the church and also at the graveside. The bearers were Messrs. H. and J. Hornbuckle and W. and A. Robinson, while the carriers of the floral tray were Messrs. Alf Babbs and Jeff Kirk. Watkins Bros, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
