  Fred Hutchinson Ely, March 24, 1934 - May 29, 1996
  Otis - Fred Ely, 62, died Wednesday.
 He was born in Portland, serving in the Army during the Korean War. He also was a deputy sheriff in Kansas, later rejoining the Army to serve three tours in Vietnam, until retiring in 1984, when he moved to Otis, where he owned Central Coast Process Service. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie No. 2576 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife, Lillian, died in 1990.
 Survivors include sons, Charles of Wichita, Kan., and John of Las Vegas; sister Lane Fichtenau of Yachats; and five grandchildren.
 Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday in Pacific view mortuary, Lincoln City. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Contributions: American Cancer Society, 330 SW Curry, Portland, OR 97201, ATTN: Dean.
