Note: The Clearwater (KS) Times, Thursay, January 12, 1984 Charles E. Johnson, 74, rural Clearwater, died at this farm home Saturday, Jan 7. Johnson was born west of Clearwater at his parent's home Oct. 1, 1909. He was the first of three sons born to August and Lilly Ann Odell Johnson. He attended Clearwater schools, graduating from Clearwater High School in 1927. On Dec 5, 1936, he married Wynona Leedy at Sedgwick, Ks. They farmed all during their married life. He was a member of the Westlink Christian Church in Wichita, Ks. Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Westlink Christian Church. Rev. Richard Applegate officiated. Music was by Carol Munson, organist, and Ida Applegate, solosit. Casketbearers were Bob Bullock, Jack Lorenz, Fred and Lyden Speer, Jack Stroud and Tom Whitaker. Interment was in Clearwater Cemetery. Johnson was preceeded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Wynona; two daughters, Lillian Ely, San Fransisco, Ca., and Charleene Briggs, The Colony, Tx., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorail has been established with Westlink Christian Church, 8810 W. 10st St., Wichita, Ks. 67212. Webb Mortuary conducted services.
