a. Note:   t Forbes. Her father was a miner who left his young family of three daughters to search for gold and silver in Colorado. He had hoped to strike it rich and then return to his family but after several years, it became apparent that he would never return.
 Margaret Forbes was the daught of James Forbes, Sr and Hanna. James Forbes, Sr was probably born in 1787 and died on May 18, 1830. Hannah was probably born in 1798. Four children blessed this union. They were Margaret, James, Jr, Alexander, and John.
 George Classon and margaret Forbes were married on March 25, 1850, at Fort Covington, New York. They had three daughters. Abbie, Mary, and Sarah. George left his family before Abbie's death. Alexander, Margaret's brother, took care of the family and, as a result, never married. He lived with C.I. and Sarah Hutchinson at the time they lived in Alexandria.
 While in La Moure, Sarah, just as her husband had been, was active in civic affairs and served as a member of the La Moure school board.
