  J. Strachan Succumbs to Illness
  Life-time district resident John A. (Jack) Strachan, 68, died in hospital late Monday evening following a long illness. He had latterly been residing on the Nipigon highway.
 Born at Nipigon son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Strachan, as a small child he was taken by his family to Port Arthur where he received his education. He had always been associated with the retail electrical business. During World War I he served overseas in France and Belgium with the Canadian Engineering Corps. Mr. Strachan was always fond of sports, particularly fishing, and knew the Lake Nipigon area intimately.
 He was a member of Royal Lodge 453 AF and AM, Superior Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, and a former member of Fort William Lodge 82, BPO Elks, Port Arthur-Fort William Kiwanis Club and branch 6, Canadian Legion.
 Surviving are his wife, the former Ruby Chitty; a brother William J., 1415 Ridgeway street, and nephews, nieces, and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Russell and Arthur.

 Observations on the above: (1) No mention of any children, and (2) No mention of his brother, Donald Melvin Strachan, even though it did mention the two other brothers who predeceased him.
b. Note:   Married by D. Anderson, a Presbyterian minister from Toronto. Witnesses: Louise Myrtle Ross and J.M. Stevenson, both of Fort William
