World War II Millitary Information:
Robert Avery was with the Cyclone Division.
Sgt. Avery, made the beachhead landing near Bataan on the
reconquest of that penisula. For almost four months, Avery directed his squad
in clearing the Japs from the hills but a sniper's bullet got him in April.
He was the holder of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
