a. Note:   Maria Wales, his oldest child, wrote to her nephew, Samuel Adams White in October, 1894: ..."Your grandfather's early business was that of a shoe manufacturer, and in selling his goods he used a large two-horse wagon, which he drove away full of his goods, and sometimes went as far north as Canada and as far south as Virginia."
  In the latter part of his life, he was a farmer. ..He was a member of the Congregationalist Church in East Randolph. He married for a second wife, a widow, Mrs. Sally Hunt. Your grandfather was also a captain of Militia."
  Death recorded at Randolph as Thomas White of Randolph, Farmer, aged 83 y 16 d, died of Congestion of Brain, born at Randolph, son of Cornelius & ---- of Randolph.
