a. Note:   His Bible gives his first wife Elizabeth Augusta White's name and date of birth as 10 April 1832, and the marriage date of 4 Nov 1852, but no places. The Bible was given to him by Charles French [probably an uncle or cousin, since his father's mother was Sally French, daughter of Zenas French]. This Bible is in my possession. Barbara J. Beake. A transcription of the family records follows: Bible of Jacob Henry Whitcomb [1830-1884]. This is a Bible owned by Jacob Henry Whitcomb [1830-1884], my Great-Great Grandfather. An inscription in the front cover states "Presented to Jacob Henry Whitcomb by Charles French 1852." Charles French was probably an uncle or cousin, since his paternal grandmother was Sally French. I have this original Bible.
