  Dana C. Hanson, married, Farmer, born at Berwick Me., died of consumption at China, Me., 13 Jan 1895, aged 82y 10m 19d. Buried at China. Father: James Hanson, b. Berwick, Me., Farmer. Mother: Deborah Clark, b. Berwick, Me. Death reported by G.J. Nelson, China. [Maine Death Records, 1617-1922] -Note: Three of his childrens' death records give his birthplace as China, Me.
  From the Lewiston Saturday Journal, 16 Jan 1895: "Dana Clark Hanson, on e of China's prominent and respected citizens, died on Sunday night, aged about 84 years. He was a member of the school committee and supervisor from 1843 to 1858 most of the time. In 1859 he was chosen representative to the Legislature, and was first selectman in 1876, 1877, 1881, and 1882. For years he was engaged in mercantile life, but has lived and died on the farm on which he was born. He was a brother of the late Dr. J.H.Hanson of Waterville. He is survived by a widow and one daughter, who resides in Boston."
  Buried at China Village Cemetery.
