Text:   The wording of entries suggests it was written by one of the children. Passed from Clara Lavinia (Miles/Maslen) Beake to Reginald Beake to Doris Amy (Beake) Davis to Jon Kay Davis, to Barbara J. Beake, the present owner.

  1825 Clara Miles Maslen Born Dec 1st at 1 o'clock afternoon.
  Clara Lavinia, Daughter of Jane Lavinia Miles, All Cannings, Farmer's Daughter, baptized 22 Jan 1826 by Rev. John A. Methuen, off. Min.[Microfiche record at the WSRO].
  Marriage registered at Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Sep 1848, as George Beak & Clara Lavinia Miles. [GRO Index 6:463]
  Her marriage record gives no father's name. Yet two handwritten family records name her as Clara Miles Maslen. It seems she was either an illegitimate child of Jane Lavinia, who subsequently married Michael Maslen and had eight more children with him, or that perhaps Michael was her father also, and belatedly married her mother.
  Her son George's registration of marriage in Brookline, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA on 16 August 1880 gives her maiden name as "Clara M. Maslen".

  From an old, undated newspaper clipping: "Golden Wedding: Numerous congratulations from their family and friends reached Mr. and Mrs. Beake of 4, Southbroom Terrace on Sunday, which was the 50th anniversary of their wedding day. Mr. and Mrs. Beake are both natives of All Cannings, but the marriage took place at Bierton Bucks, the officiating clergyman being the Rev. C. Elton, a former Rector of Stanton. Mrs. Beake's maiden name was Clara Lavinia Miles. She was able to go out for a chair ride this week, the first time for two years."
