a. Note:   The IGI lists a christening of a David Thomas Carey, 13 June 1852 in "Hooe", Sussex, England. Parents: Stephen Carey and Sarah. Batch J148471/dates 1609-1882/ Source film: 1067360. A record of his marriage submitted by an LDS member does give "Birthdate" as 13 June 1852 in "Hove", Sussex, so this looks like the right person. The baptism date fits his birthdate provided by the family, so I am making further inquiries. See also notes for his parents.
  In the 1881 census, he is listed as head of household at 20 Granville Road, Tonbridge, Kent, England, aged 28, a butcher, birthplace Hove, Sussex, England. His first wife's name is given as Mary, and four of their seven[?] children are listed.
  Second marriage recorded in England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1940 [Urchfont, Wiltshire, England, 1840-1906; Film 1279347] as David Thomas Carey, age 33, father Stephen Carey, and Henrietta Beake, age 21, father George Beake, married 12 Jul 1885 at Urchfont.
