a. Note:   Birth recorded at Boston as [unnamed female] Bixby, b. 31 Dec 1893 at 846 Fourth St., dau. John, Carpenter, b. Me. [sic], & Carrie, b. Boston. Oddly, there is a note that this entry was "corrected 1/16/48." On the birth originally recorded at Boston as Carry Hanson Bixby, b. 26 May 1896, dau. John J., Carpenter, b. Nova Scotia, & Carrie M., b. Roxbury, there is also a notation "corrected 12/18/47" with "Carry Hanson" crossed out and "Helen Grace" written in. Who did this and why is a mystery. My grandmother was their oldest sister, and I trust the entries in her birthday book as I'm sure she knew when her sisters were born and in what order! In the typewritten transcription of the 1893 Births Registered in the City of Boston, the entry is typed as first written above, with the baby's name Helen Grace written in, the middle initial J. added to the father's name, and the middle initial M. and maiden surname Hanson added to the mother's name. The father's birth place is corrected from Me. to Nova Scotia.[Massachusetts Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988]
  Listed in the 1930 U.S. Census in her husband's household at 17 Parmenter Road, Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts, as Helen White, wife, age 36, first marriage at age 26, born in Massachusetts, father born in Canada, mother born in Massachusetts. [Roll 930; Pg. 21 B, ED 506; Image 993.0].
