Oct 25, 1916 Perry, Oklahoma, bur Fairview Cem, Perry; dau of Samuel and Elizabeth Jane (Scank) Clark.... The portion of Randolph County, Va in which John M. Rorabaugh was born fell in 1843 within the newly-formed Barbour Co., Va, now W. Va. He is listed in the 1840 census with his parents in Randolph Co, Va, 1850 census with them in Barbour Co., Va. In 1857 his parents and most of the family moved west, settling first in Garden Plains, Whiteside co., Illinois 1857-1859, then moving on to settle in Union Twp, Scotland co., Missouri. John Rorabaugh was newly married to Mary Ellen Clark (and she not yet 15) when the move onward to Missouri took place. After living in Missouri for twelve years, John Rorabaugh and his family moved, again, to Appanoose Co., Iowa. John Rorabaugh is said to have made and sold a salve use for rheumatism and similar aches and pains.* Not found 1860 census yet; 1870 in Union Twp, Scotland Co, Mo, p. 528, farming. Not yet found 1880 or 1900. His descendants spell the name borth Rorabaugh and Rorabaw. Some sources say he is buried under the spelling Rorabaw." I did find John Mitchell Rorabaw in a special census of Appanoose County, 1885. * I have a copy of his flyer which he used to advertize his product.
