AU Quarterly, Vol 12, #3, Sep 1990, p 119. From a partial list of HenryCo Marriages, a Catherine Waldrop m. John Morris 16 Mar 1825. Is this adau of Matthew & Elizabeth?? Matthew is the only Waldrop listed in the1830 census. Matthew is HH #950. HH #922 is John Morris 20001-11001 (thiswife would have been b.1800/1810.) This is the only Morris family thatlives close to Matthew. I could not find a John Morris in 1860 Clayton CoCensus book, BUT on p 26, there is a W L Morris age 25 "Hotel Keeper" andliving in this Hotel are several other Morris males & females AND JamesWaldrop age 24 "Clerk". Is this James a son of Matthew & ChristineVining?? (I do not have the 1840 census for Matthew.) Or is this theJames L H Waldrop who appears in 1870 as age 34 with wife Conelia?

(There is a William YARBOUGH listed as age 70 b.SC on the 1870 census ofClayton Co. This William and wife Elinor had a dau, Elizabeth who m. DaveNORMAN. The Norman's have ties to the BURKS and BARTON's.)
From observations of David P Smith, Wheaton IL, "It seems that the mostlikely candidate for the father of this Mathew Waldrop was the James Waldrop who received the Land Grant of 100 acres on the South side of theEnoree River, in Laurens Co SC, on 18 May 1772. Also, it seems quite likely that this James Waldrop was a son of Michael Waldrop, Jr, of Spartanburg County South Carolina. It is documented that this Michael Waldrop Jr, did have a son named James Waldrop.
