a. Note:   OOD KEARNEY of Warren County, North Carolina. There is a marriage in December 7, 1867 for HAYWOOD KEARNEY (son of LEWIS & NANCY KEARNEY) to CHARITY DAVIS (daughter of WILLIAM MACKLIN & ANNACA DAVIS.) In 1880, HAYWOOD, age 55 (b. 1825) and CHARITY KEARNEY, age 51 (b. 1829) were living next door to THOMAS & TEMPIE CAUDLE; their ages indicate these were probably 2nd marriages and CHARITY was probably the mother of PETER and TEMPIE WILLIAMS.
 TEMPIE was the sister of PETER WILLIAMS who married MARY CAUDLE & PARTHENIA CAUDLE. The full names of their parents were included in the 1875 Marriage record of PETER WILLIAMS. After the death of her husband, WILLIAM THOMAS CAUDLE in 1917, TEMPIE was living with various of her family members, in 1920 she was living with her son, JUNIUS, and in 1930, she was living with her granddaughter, LUCY ALSTON -BROWN.
 While TEMPIE started claiming later in life that she and her parents were born in Georgia, they were all clearly born in North Carolina in their earlier records. My suspicions is that she was having memory problems, probably senility, by 1910, which was the first time she was listed as born in Georgia. By then, her children were told that she was born in Rome, Georgia, which was listed on her Death Certificate.
Note:   TEMPIE WILLIAMS was the daughter of DICK WILLIAMS & CHARITY CLANTON, who later married HAYW
