a. Note:   C and as a young woman married Walter Davis. Together they first lived in Greentown,then raised nine children. They were: Willie, b. 1930, Robert L.,b.1932, Betty, b.1934, Romeo, b.1935, Roger, b.1936, Doris, b.1938, Panthea, b.1940, Matilda, b.1944, and Brenda Ann, b.1945. She was widowed in 1949 when Walter died. Later she married James Edward Debnam (Nan), a cousin of Walter's, who was a widower and also had children from that marriage. Mary and Nan had one child together, Celestine, born 8/31/1951. In 1968, Nan became very ill and went to live with his children in Maryland, while Mary chose to live with her daughters in Boston,MA She spent the rest of her life in Boston with her extended family,until she died in 1994 from throat cancer. Mary was buried in Warren County NC where she had spent most of her life, at Spring Green Cemetery.
