a. Note:   ther, JOHN WASHINGTON COPELAND, seem to have alternated in what names they were using at times. It appears that JAMES HARRISON COPELAND married first to MARY ALICE RICHARDSON in 1873, and there is a marriage record for that year for a HENRY COPELAND to ALICE RICHARDSON; however, there was also a HENRY & ALICE (misspelled as ALLIS in the census) COPELAND in 1880 Warren County next door to the BENJAMIN COPELAND family, with no children, except for 3 year old "cousin", RUINA RICHARDSON (listed as COPELAND) who was actually the daughter of JAMES HARRISON's sister, FRANCES COPELAND-RICHARDSON; I believe that HENRY was actually twin brother, JOHN WASHINGTON COPELAND, who wasn't listed anywhere else by that name. As HARRISON COPELAND, JAMES HARRISON COPELAND was living with his parents in 1880, as single. In addition, there was J. H. & MARY COPELAND in 1880 Halifax County, with 4 children, among them, JENKINS COPELAND, who has been confirmed as a daughter of JAMES HARRISON COPELAND on her marriage record. So it does seems that these were probably 2 different families, one was JAMES HARRISON COPELAND and family, and the other was likely, that of his brother, JOHN WASHINGTON COPELAND.
Note:   Was called HENRY COPELAND in some records, but it is very confusing since he and his twin bro
