 Only 2 of NANCY RICHARDSON's children's fathers have been confirmed. 1) PLUMMER B. RICHARDSON named his father, JOHN BURCHETT, on his Marriage License when he got married in 1885 in Wake Co. That was JOHN LOUIS BURCHETT, b. 1800/d.1886, who was the half-white son of ELIZABETH BURCHETT (1780-1854) a white woman, daughter of JOSEPH BURCHETT (1725-1795) and his 2nd wife, MARTHA WILSON, of Warren County, NC. ELIZABETH BURCHETT had at least one child, JOHN L., with a slave named LEWIS, and named her son after him. JOHN L. BURCHETT was mulatto in all of the Census, and was raised by his grandmother, MARTHA WILSON-BURCHETT He married 1st in 1837 to SARAH DREW, and 2nd in 1838 to ELIZA MEWSHAW; JOHN & ELIZA/LIZZIE BURCHETT were the parents & grandparents of several of the BURCHETTs I have in my tree, who are connected through the CARTERs. 2) NANCY's daughter, VIRGINIA RICHARDSON, was the daughter of JOHN LOVETT BURGESS, of Dalkeith. That has been confirmed by Kianga Lucas, through her mother's DNA who is descended from VIRGINIA. So far, the fathers of NANCY''s children, RUFUS and LUCY ANN & ALSTON haven't been proven. It could be JOHN LOVETT BURGESS or it could be someone else. There is a possibility that ALSTON RICHARDSON could have been fathered by an ALSTON, however, he hasn't been found after 1870. There is enough age range between the older and younger siblings for there to be potentially multiple fathers.
