a. Note:   . According to records of slaves, she had 7 children between 1822 thru 1838 at the Sneed Plantation owned by Dr. Richard Sneed. There is a record of Matilda being conveyed to a Lewis Burwell of of Granville County in 1841. But the Sneed records then show that she gave birth to her son Carpenter (?) on Sept. 15, 1842 at Montpelier, which was part of the original Henderson Estate from Judge Leonard Henderson, Lucy (Henderson) Sneed's father. At that time, it was owned by Leonard's son, Archibald E. Henderson. It is not yet clear what happened after that, and have found no further records of her.
Note:   Matilda was a slave on the Sneed Plantation in Granville County, in what is now Vance County
