a. Note:   r also referred to as MARGARET and MARJA in various records, and again as MARTHA (1920 census) in the census records. I believe the confusion comes from the fact that there was an older daughter named MARTHA, b. about 1845, and the family's tendency to alternate using different names for each individual. MARGIANNE was probably the daughter first listed in the 1860 Census as "M. COAPLIN, age 9" (born 1851) since by 1870, both of the 2 older girls, MARTHA & MARY COPELAND were already married and only MARGIANNE (listed as MACKY) remained at home with their parents, then being the oldest daughter in the family. Also of note, is that she was always listed as being a year or two younger than her twin brothers, JOHN and JAMES, who were consistent in their ages as born 1850, so it is more likely that she was actually born in 1851 just as the Census shows, instead of the 1849 dated supplied in her death certificate. So, I am listing her birth as September 1851, which fits all of the earliest records.
Note:   MARGIANNE COPELAND's name doesn't show on any of BEN COPELAND's family census. She was late
