a. Note:   Of Redland Comment by Dr James Raie Clouston (1857-1915)
  He lived on the farm of Redland, which, with the farm of Seatter, forms a projection into the west side of the Loch of Stenness. He was a weaver, as well as a farmer. He wasa dvoutly religious man and taught the first Sabbath School in the West Mainland of Orkney. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and a local preacher. he was also a temerance reformer. Hugh Isbister went to live at Garth in 1829.
