a. Note:   o Lucy Jane Wilson, his mother's name as being Sarah C. Smith, we must also take into consideration that during the early part of this century, he often spoke of having a favorite sister, whose name was given as Mary (Ellison) Underwood, and a brother by the name of Ray Ellison. Knowing little of the family, we are led to believe that Sarah Carpenter had been previously married, before her marriage to James S. Perry, and since we do not know when or how James S. Perry died, Sarah could easily have been subsequently married to someone named Smith, and was so married at the time of George's marriage. George spoke very little of his own father, or for that matter of any of his own family, and never to our knowledge of any full brothers or sisters.
