Note: N12581 OBITUARY: Violet R. (Oneida) Eldredge, 90, a resident of Boise, and formerly of Shoshone, died Friday, Feb 11, 2000, at St.Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise of heart failure. Violet was born Sep 2, 1909, at Mackay, Idaho, the daughter of John Wilford and Rachel Ann Harris Howard. She graduated from Shoshone High school and the Twin Falls Business College. In 1929, Vi married A.F. "Fat" Oneida at Shoshone. Fat operated the Palace Pool Hall until his death in 1966. Vi spent many of her early married years assisting Fat's family in the operation of the oneida Boarding House. After completing her business degree, she worked for the Soil Conservation Service for five years. After Fat's death, she ran the pool hall until it sold. In 1972, Vi married Kenneth Eldredge of Boise, where she lived until her death. Following Ken's retirement, they spent many happy years traveling around the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe. Vi is survived by her husband, Kenneth Eldredge of Boise; two sons, including, Frank and his wife, Mary Oneida of Boise (and their children, Gary Oneida and his daughter, Dani; Dene and Sandy Oneida and their daughter, Sarah; Pat and Amanda Oneida and their daughter, Jessica); and her second son, John and his wife, Marcella Oneida of Fresno, Calif. (and their children, Bill Oneida and his daughteres, Kim and Erin; Bob and Kelly Oneida; Jeff and Margaret Oneida and son, John Gordon; and Anne and Doug Gerdts); a stepson, Gordon and Julie Eldredge of Boise (and their children, Julie, Matt, Melissa and Anna); a step-daughter, JoAnn Brammer-Eldredge of Seattle, Washl. (and son, Scott); a brother, Harold "Jack" and Daisy Howard of Boise; and two sisters, Margaret and Norman Garvelink of Michigan, and Arlene Bryson of Boise. Vi was looking forward to the birth of another great-grandchild in April. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harris "Harry", Leonard "Doc", and Yardley "Stew" Howard. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Demaray's Shoshone Chapel, with Bishop Ross Gedeborg conducting. Burial will be in the Shoshone Cemetery, Shoshone. Family members and friends may call today from 1 to 7 pm at the funeral chapel.
