a. Note:   N14394 research of Margaret Halverson.
1920 census for Blaine Co., Idaho, it lists William Monroe Phippen,
7 years old, ADOPTED son of William C. and Jennie (Howard) Phippen.
  research of Aurelia Clemons
Talked to Mom, Leora and then Jack Phippen (Cascade, ID) and his sister Linda (Nampa) (children of Monroe). They also have a younger sister Cheryl in S.Calif.
Monroe was born 17 Aug 1912. The adoption took place in Boise and the story was the his mother died in childbirth and his father could not take care of him. Thus he was just days old. There is suppose to be an older sister. (Told to Linda by her grandmother Jennie). Some of the story could have been sugar coated to make it easier on the family, she thinks.
Monroe was curious about his blood line when he was younger and saw the adoption papers listing his biological parents as surname of "Louis". Later in life he went back to get more information but the records had burned, he said.
Family search gives his birth as 27 September 1913 Care, Blaine, Idaho, United States.
