 This is the last Will and Testament of me William Twist of North Meols, Lancashire, England in the County of Lancaster Yeoman I direct all my just debts and all Funeral expences and the Charges of the Probate of this my Will to be paid out of my personal Estate. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann the Wife of Richard Johnson the Sum of One hundred and ten pounds I give and bequeath unto my Son John Twist the Sum of Twenty pounds I give and bequeath unto my Son John Twist also the two Grates or fire Irons in the House and parlour where I now live Also one grate or Fire Irons in the Cottage on the same green Also one Oak Chest and the Clock in the House part Also the Com Screen or trial in the Garner I give and bequeath also unto my Daughter Ann Johnson aforesaid One Oak Chest in the room over the house part where I now live Also a feather Bed Bed Stocks and hangings and other Articles belonging to the same in the room over the Buttery I give and bequeath All my Books unto my Son John aforesaid and to the widow and Children of my Son James now deceased my said Son John to have one half and the said widow and Children the other half of the said Books and I also give and bequeath unto the Widow and Children of my said Son James now deceased the Sum of Ten pounds out of the Chattels to share and share alike And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my monies Securities for money Household Goods and Furniture Farming Stock and generally all my personal Estate whatsoever not before bequeathed I give and bequeath the same unto my said son John and to the Widow and Children of my son James John to have one half and the said Widow and Children the other half And whereas I am possessed of a Close or piece of Land called Janes Hey with several Houses and Buildings erected thereupon situate in North Meols, Lancashire, England aforesaid which I hold for lives or years determinable upon lives and which I am minded and desirous to give and devise in the parts shares and allotments thereinafter mentioned and expressed that is to say I give and devise unto my said Daughter Ann Johnson All that Plot or Piece of Land situated at the West end of the said Close or piece of ground and running from the The stern twenty thereof along the North side towards the east unto a Gutter and on the South side thereof unto a boundary Stone and containing an Acre and fifteen perches together with the Messuage or Dwelling house and outhousing erected thereupon and also all that plot piece or parcel of Land situated to the East of the Said Gutter and running on the North and South sides respectively unto boundary Stones and containing twenty nine perches to hold the same Plots or Pieces of Land and the Messuage or Dwelling house and Outhousing thereupon erected unto my said Daughter Ann Johnson and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after the death of my said Daughter Ann unto and amongst all and every the Children of my said Daughter Ann which may be living at her death and the lawful Issue of such as shall be then dead and their respective heirs and assigns equally share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants the Issue of any deceased Child or Children to take his her or their parent or parents shares only. I give and devise unto the Widow and Children of my Son James Twist All that my piece of Land with the Cottage erected thereupon situate on the South east of the Plot or piece of ground first hereinbefore mentioned and described and running on the Northerly side along a Gutter unto a boundary Stone and on the Southerly side unto another boundary Stone and containing three Roads And also all that Plot or Piece of land bounded on the West by the Plot or piece of Land of twenty nine perches devised to my said Daughter Ann Johnson and running on the South and North sides from the boundary Stones of the same Plot of Land devised to my Daughter Ann unto two other boundary Stones and containing thirty nine Perches To hold the same Plots or pieces of Land and Cottage unto the Widow and Children of my said Son James Twist. Their Heirs and Assigns for ever or for and during all my Estate term and interest therein I give and devise unto the Widow and Children of my said Son James Twist their heirs and Assigns for and during my estate term and interest therein I give and devise unto my said Son John Twist All those my three Plots or Pieces of ground being the residue and remainder of the said Close or Piece of land called Janes hey to hold the same Plots or pieces of Land unto my said Son John Twist his heirs and assigns forever or for and during all my Estate Term and interest therein I give and devise unto my Said Son John Twist All that my Cottage with the Appurtances in North Meols, Lancashire, England aforesaid now in the occupation of Alice Halsall to hold to him my said Son John Twist his heirs and assigns for ever or for and during my Estate term and interest therein I give and devise unto my said Son John twist his heirs and Assigns for ever or for and during all my Estate Term and interest therein I nominate constitute and appoint my said Son John Twist and my said Son in law Richard Johnson Executors of this my Will and order that one of them shall not be accountable for the faults of the other but only for himself and also that it shall be lawful to pay themselves the expences under this my Will and lastly revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made I declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this eleventh day of April One thousand and eight hundred and thirty seven – William Twist Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator William Twist as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses nine lines being either wholly or in part erased before signing – Henry Fogg – Robert Wright – C… Lawson
 The Ninth of January 1838 John Twist one of the Executors in this Will named was sworn in common form (power being reserved to Richard Johnson the other Executor therein also named to take upon him the execution of the said Will when he shall lawfully request the same) and further made Oath the personal Estate and Effects of the Testator within the Diocese of Chester were under the value of £200 before me Joshua Thomas Horton Surrogate
