A sermon was preached by D. N. Porter. The council was called to order by D. N. Porter, who was chosen moderator and Ernest Yager was chosen clerk. Delegates were called for and were enrolled from the following churches; Hillsboro - Rev. J. M. Eaton and W. B. Morris; Campbellsburg - Rev. G. W. Thompson, T. P. Jones, C. T. The letters of dismission were read and those who wished to join the new organization were enrolled. These members were then advised to organize themselves into a church and the Articles of Faith were read again and adopted. David Morris was chosen moderator, and N. C. Shouse was chosen clerk. Brother David Morris was chosen to act as deacon by the organization as he had been a deacon at Hillsboro from which church he had brought a letter. Bro. William Hancock was then chosen and ordained a deacon. Rev. G. W. Thompson was called to the pastorate of the church which took the name of Sulphur Baptist Church. The hand of fellowship was given to the church by the council. A vote of thanks was given to the Christian church for the use of their church building. The first regular service was held on the first Saturday in December 1884 with a sermon by the new pastor and arrangements were made looking toward the erection of a church edifice at this place. As of 5 June 2004 the property was owned by George's son, Clay Morgan [(502)743-0666], and is located at 4615 Sulphur Road. Clay's mother was Alice Gail Dawkins, and her father was William Dawkins.
