Note: According to "Henry Co Kentucky, 1798-1995," by the Henry Co Historical Society, Mary Gilmore was the daughter of William and Jane (Torbitt) Gilmore; and, that source also says that it is probable that Martha too was their daughter. In support of Martha also being their daughter is the 1820 US Census - Woodford Co - which lists William Gilmore, head-of-house, as follows: 1 male age 26-45 [William] 1 female age 26-45 [Jane] 1 female age under 10 [Martha] Note: Martha, bn in 1819 would be the child under 10. Her sister Mary, not born until 1824, would not have been counted. 1830 US Census - Ky - Woodford Co - lists Jane Gilmore, head-of-house, as follows: 0 males 1 female age 40-50 [Jane] 1 female age 15-20 [Martha] 1 female age 10-15 [Mary] WB F Pages 239-240 - List of Sales - Inventory & Appraisal - Jan 1825 Woodford Co., Ky. Note: Wife Jane's 2nd husband, John Watkins Wooldridge, petitioned the Christian Co. court to release him from the duties as guardian of Jane's 2 daughters by William Gilmore so they could live with relatives in Henry Co. The petition dated 30 April 1834 filed in Christian County Order Book "G," part 2, page 381, requests that John W. Wooldridge be released as guardian for "Martha Jane Gilmore and Mary Ann Gilmore."
